Billy Paynter <http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20120228/billy-bags-brace-in-boro-success_2 247585_2627313> was at the double as United beat Middlesbrough 2-1 in a behind-closed-doors game at Thorp Arch on Tuesday.
Paynter struck twice as United came from 1-0 down to beat the Teessiders in a game that saw new signing Danny Webber make his debut, the former Portsmouth man playing the opening 45 minutes. Reserve team manager Neil Redfearn said he was disappointed with how his side started the contest, and Boro were handed the lead when they seized on a misplaced pass before breaking and scoring in the first half. Paynter levelled before half-time when he converted an inswinging corner from Lloyd Sam <http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20120228/billy-bags-brace-in-boro-success_2 247585_2627313> , and that proved the cue for United to step up after the break and put the visitors under some pressure. In the end, the game was settled by Paynter when he converted a penalty to secure a 2-1 victory. "We did well in the second half," said Redfearn. "We showed good shape, pressed well, and we used the ball better. "Danny got in 45 minutes which was good because he needed game time and it was great to see Billy score twice. Strikers thrive on confidence and it will do him the world of good." _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
