The only sense in which what you are saying is incorrect would be that you would be quite wrong to conclude that the Trust (board members) are kidding themselves. They are under no illusions and this has been the case for years. Since pretty much the time of Bates' impending arrival on the scene at Leeds, and in some cases well before that. It doesn't have to be this way of course and not all clubs (owners and directors) have this same attitude. I was at a meeting yesterday for example when a Club director spoke with genuine emotion about looking after the core supporters who had stuck with the club through terrible times and who had been incredibly loyal. The trick is to be able to stand up to what the likes of Ken Bates brings to the table and at the same time not grow so cynical that you think all are the same. They are not.
