We in Canada, get some pretty darned good games via cable TV....some from Sky and others from BBC. The play-by-play announcers as compared to other North American sports, are head and shoulders better. The problem with the pbp guys here is, they forget they're doing TV and think they're during games on radio. Non-stop...ball goes from - to, etc. None of the usual banter about the price of fish and chips, or a player's statistics, etc. But then, I, a former radio play-by-play broadcaster of football (soccer) always tried to present a picture in doing the broadcast....(Canadian Broadcaster of the year in 1974). Today,s commentators in Britain are something else. Each goal is brilliant, amazing, marvelous, extraordinary....out of this world, etc. High-pitched and loud. You know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. You all are very fortunate!
