Well that's a load of bollox eric of course it hasn't, take as an example
Frankie Boyle, at no other time in History would someone be able to utter
such offensive and unpleasant (and often very funny) stuff on national
televison - only 40 years ago Lenny Bruce was repeatedly arrested for making
jokes and that's in the US where freedom of speech is, I believe, enshrined
in the constitution (mind u half the men who wrote that had slaves and the
other half were tea destroying terrorists so what did they know).

The use of twitter has run a coach and horses through secrecy laws and
Wikileaks and other organisations release incredibly secretive information.
Society has changed and we are freer to live and say what we want but quite
rightly we have laws to stop people making comments that can incite violence
or hatred, but they should be used sensibly.

I don't believe that anyone should be allowed to say anything they want to
anyone and living in a democratic community requires us all to give up
certain rights and follow laws passed. There is very little censorship in
the media compared to previous decades.

This is not about freedom of speech but about media led frenzy affecting
legal decisions. Although I don't know exactly what he said, what I have
read indicates he has broken the law and should have been charged.
