Well yet again we follow up a committed and impressive away performance with
total capitulation at home.
This was as bad as Watford and that was pretty much as bad as it gets.
Right from the off we were second best and were totally devoid of ideas or
passion.
Within the first minute they had a free header just over the bar and they
continued to dominate.
Any chance we may have had of getting into the game disappeared with a red card
for Brown, I have not seen it yet on TV so it is hard to comment other than to
say not one single Derby player re-acted to the tackle - compare that to
Reading with the Thompson foul - and that is very unusual in any game. Also
when the red went up there was total disbelief amongst those around me , no-one
knew what he had done, we all thought that the ref was trying to make up for
him not being sent off on Friday.
Shortly after, whilst Derby continued to dominate and create half chances, we
fell  to the usual opposition goal - an absolute pearler from outside the box.
I doubt if anyone inside the ground believed at that stage that we could get
anything out of the game, and apart from a couple of long range efforts from
Nunez (he seems to be a one trick pony, run at them and fire a shot in) we
never looked like equalising. If we created any chances then I have forgotten
about them. Then with 20 or so minutes to go Derby put the final nail in the
coffin - a shot was well blocked by O'Dea but their man re-acted quickest to
the rebound and hit it home.

Would we  collapse and end up letting in another 4 or 5.? Thankfully 'no',
Derby took their foot off the pedal and the game rumbled on with not much
happening. Billy came on to sarcastic chants from the Leeds crowd (I hate to
hear that stuff) and managed to win a couple of headers - more than Becchio had
done- but the flick ons went to nobody. Then about the only touch of class from
us all game - a lovely ball over the top from Snoddy fell beautifully into the
path of Webber whose first touch was good and got him ahead of the defender BUT
his second touch was a very poor attempt at a shot that rolled harmlessly
(very) wide. It just about summed us up - a chance for Webber to open his
account and he failed miserably.
I don't really get Colin and his subs- he makes a big thing of not having a
keeper so that he can have an extra attacker but then seems reluctant to bring
any sub on - despite the fact that we were awful and getting out played he made
his first sub with only 20mins left, and then only gave Webber 7 minutes to
show what he can do.
In fact I thought Colin got it wrong from the start with his team selection.
The season is over, we all know it, so why not give Rogers and Paynter a start
to see if they can cut it at this level, why not let Webber start and see if he
can look as good over 90mins as he sometimes does with his cameo performances.
During the second half we were discussing amongst ourselves who we should keep
and it was not a good discussion. We all pretty much agreed that we should keep
Snoddy but that he would be crazy to stay. That McCormack deserved to keep his
place was also pretty unanimous, After that some of us stuck up for Lees and
Clayton, though both need to do it every week, and one lad said he thought
Lonergan and O'Dea were OK but that was it !
