Agreed, life is draconian. As Mark says maybe a two-year ban is inadequate but
the
BOA's attitude is(was?) OTT.

Yes, taking performance enhancing substances is wrong and needs to be caught
and the
people doing it punished. But for life? Some doing are mature and cyncial but
there are
the young, the naieve, those who get pressurised into it by coaches, other team
members, etc and as Ian says mistakes are mad. Those who have learnt there
lesson,
have repented and admit they where wrong deserve another chance after they have
served their punishment. A life ban goes to far or shall we also bring back the
death
penalty?

At least we now have more of a level playing field with the BOA having to do
the same
as other countries.
As for the Olympics being corrupt, yes, but a lot less than they where and as
Ian says it's
not just the Olympics. There is corruption and cheating in all sports,
especially at the top
(professional) level and that includes football and Leeds (remember Leeds
City?).
Nor is it just sport but it goes on in every aspect of life (or can anyone
think of an
exception?)

As for the Olympics I'm looking forward to them. Kaye and I got some tickets in
the
second ballot and we've got paralympic tickets and we're going to enjoy the
events.

I don't. Banning people for life is overly draconian. We've all seen that they
can get it
massively wrong - eg Diane Modahl.

Olympics are corrupt. Just like FIFA, UEFA, the FA, the Govt - etc
