>>> Hope none of them now get selected, as it'll just be a pointless diversion as, Millar aside, none of them have a chance to win anything!<< Millar is effectively Cavendish's "team captain" for the road race. His job is to control the race and set up the finish for Cave to win the sprint. He'll be driving the race until a couple of km out, then he'll drop back - so he's not actually there to win a personal medal. This is what happened - successfully - at the world championships last year. He does have a chance in the Time Trial, which comes later - especially as two of the top three time trialists in the world (Cancellara and Martin) are out with serious injuries - even if they're OK to race they'll not have done much beforehand. Bradley Wiggins is a decent shout for time trial Gold - except he'll be knackered as he's really going for the Tour de France. So Millar could be in with a shout of a medal. As for Dwain Chambers, he's no chance in the sprint against Usain Bolt & co - but he could pick up a 4x100 relay medal. On paper we're probably a decent shout for bronze behind Jamaica and the USA, though anything can happen in relays... BOA is now saying four-year ban for first offenders, to include at least one Olympics. That seems fair to me - though whether WADA will buy in is doubtful. _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
