My own opinion of Clayton is that when he's good, he's very good, but more often than not he's disappointing. I would have kept him because he's still young and he might find the consistency you need from him.
I guess Brown has been kept because he's a good experienced pro to have as cover for the midfield. One thing is for sure, there needs to be a lot of new signings before next season, 8 to 10 new players I would say.
