OK, so they deserve a massive pay rise - on existing contracts that  were 
good enough when they signed them - for finishing 14th.

Of course. Most of the clubs in the Championship are richer than us,  
regardless of our greater turnover. In football chairman terms, Bates is a  
pauper. Some clubs' sugardaddy owners are paying more than 100% of turnover on  
players' wages. Makes ridsdale look parsimonious.

Love the use of language here. "giving up". Weasel words.

Got to say too, this sort of thing is going to make Bates even more bloody  
minded than the old sod already is.
 
Remember, if you want to stab someone in the back, you've got to get right  
behind them first. 
 
Still, could be worse. We could be Cardiff. £100m in the transfer kitty but 
 forced to play in red. Be careful what you wish for.
