I don't think that's true. When bands become shit, you stop buying their stuff and going to watch them. If products become shit, you stop buying their stuff.
Football is more than this. We have a stake in it more than some band or car manufacturer. It's not like you say 'Leeds are shit now, I'm off to watch man city'. No, we deserve to know. The club is an important part of the community. IMHO of course.
