Unlike Jon Blythe, I tried to make some dosh from property, but failed miserably. So am now involved in M$ Exchange rollouts!
I hate train stations. But as Guy suggested, prefer transport in the form of a pair of trainers. My marathon obsession (which was always there in my previous time here), suddenly showed results as I started running upto 100 miles/week. So, an old git like me, with no previous good form as a youth, managed to get into the top 200 at the London Marathon one year, and has qualified for the sort of "semi-elite" start for the last 6 years - waving manically behind the Kenyans at the start. (This is more to do with the complete dearth of people prepared to put the training in these days, I should say. Absolutely pitiful is the only way to describe UK men's distance running as we shall witness next month! Any kid with any inkling of talent could be at the next Olympics if they wanted.) My support of Leeds, whilst a bit sparse, has meant I've averaged 400 miles every time I've seen them for the past 3 seasons. That's Spurs away, and Arsenal away twice. Not been to Elland Road since Ken Bates' first game. I have a nice photo of him and his wife taken at half time. Ken's wife spotted me trying to take his photo from the pleb seats and got Ken to smile and pose for the camera. So, don't share that common hatred of him. Yes, I'm that shallow. At the weekend, Betty alerted me to the "web archive" which means you can trawl back through snapshots taken of websites back to 1996. Last night I was able to dig out a page I had created, long since erased, dedicated to my love for Carlton Palmer. It's quite touching to read a man's admiration for the gangly one, even if that man is me. There's also some Better Dead than Red pages, and the Euronet97 site preserved for posterity. Obviously, this does not match stuff about lard factories ablaze. Thinking of going to the match v wolves .... If I can persuade my dad to go. PS, Jon Lee - is Bob Stokoe dead yet? _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
