Watched on t'web. Poor performance . lost 2-1. We never created anything apart from a speculative 30 yard Austin free-kick which amazingly went in and Lee Peltier with a fre header from 6 yards which he fluffed. Apart from that we were poor. We find it hard to keep possession , pass a simple ball or win a 50:50 header. It's just really frustrating to watch. Good effort, no doubt about that but the reality is this team aint good enough. We desperately need some pace up front. Varney and Becchio just don't have the quality. We lost Macca in the first few minutes which didn't help. Scores: Kenny - 7 .Our best player, kept us in it. Peltier - 3. Big question mark about this lad for me, both as a captain and as a right back. Drury - 5 Got subbed. Pearce - 6. Worked hard. Lees - 4. Poor defending for the pen. Byram - 5. Started brightly but faded. White - 3. Lightwieght poor performance. Not worth his place in the side if he play like this. I am a fan but I can't defend performances like this. Austin - 7. Did well first half and scored the goal, faded badly second half - not surprising really. Tonge - 3. Was it Sean Gregan ? Looked comfortable onthe ball andcan pass but he just wasn't at the races. Obviously fitness problems. Varney - 4. Started lively but his play is poor, he keeps the ball too long and gets caught in possession. He's better than Becchio in the air (not hard) but I don't know what he gives this team. Macca - not on long enough. Becchio - 1 Can't remember one positive contribution - didn't win anything in the air, fouled a lot, used his hand in the box and generally just his uusal shite performance. You can't expect to win games with this lad as our main striker. He's just not good enough , I don't care how many tap-ins he's put away so far, take them away and what do you have ? Feck all. Subs: Diouf - 6. All good things we did (not many) involved him. With Macca injured he's going to get that in the hole role, he needs a striker to run off him, create space , get behind the defence. Becchio won't do that. Who else came on ? Oh , yes Poleon late on. F'cking rubbish this.
