Leeds United are urging the club's fans to make a stand against vile chanting inside stadiums on matchdays. The club's fans are being asked to turn their backs to the game in response to vile and sick taunts. The new campaign comes in the wake of the game at Sheffield Wednesday when both sets of fans exchanged sick chants. Leeds United CEO Shaun Harvey said: "In an age when so much has been done to improve the game's image it is sickening that these vile chants can still be heard in and around stadiums up and down the country. "Our fans have been both the perpetrators and the victims of vile and sick chants, particularly with reference to our two fans who lost their lives in Istanbul 12 years, and we don't believe there is any place for this in football. "We are asking our fans to show their feelings towards any vile chants they may hear by turning their backs in response rather than react in any other way. "The significance of asking fans to turn their backs is in keeping with the respect gestures made by our fans following the loss of Kevin Speight and Chris Loftus in Istanbul, and repeated on the 10th anniversary at Yeovil in 2010.
