Doom und gloom, re: my iRiver. I updated the firmware to the latest version (which is still a few years old), and then converted the offending album as Nigel suggested, to non-variable bit-rate MP3 files, but the same result. I then converted them to .WMA files, and still the same result.
Methinks it might be time to upgrade my hardware. What are the List's best recommendations for a reliable, simple to use, 20GB+ player that doesn't cost the earth, and doesn't crash every 5 minutes. I don't want it to do anything else but play music; I don't need it to store photos, be a phone, access the web, tell me if my brother has reached the airport (ok I haven't got a brother), give me the latest recipe for duchess potatoes, etc, etc. I don't care if it's the size of a house brick, as long as it works. >From looking at reviews on Amazon, it seems all the players have their faults.
