Was thinking it was more to do with Leeds having a famous and quite large
Jewish community,  Marks and Spencer started here and he was Jewish, plus
Manny Cousins, Lesley Silver.....( and Peter Ridsdale??? Not sure about that
one)

Plus didn't Lorimor convert to go to play in Israel in the twilight of his
career??????

I'm not aware Huddersfield has a Jewish community

However these days wouldn't it be more topical to refer to Leeds as Somali,
Afro Caribbean, Pakistani etc......

is it perhaps something to do with that book The Promised land, where the
author came from Leeds' jewish community and talked at some length about the
long and proud connenction between the club and that community, in
particular...not condoning in any way the chants, just wondering if that's
the derivation.
