Im not too partial towards wines when it comes to their origines. they come good from many places. I had some great champagne (or sparkling wine if you prefer) from outside of NY this summer. Unreal. Didnt even know it existed Also, the malbec grapes used in argieland are french anyways right? Its a bit like stealing inspiration; its not about where you got it from, its about what you do with it. So if the outcome is a great wine from X the merrier for all of us!
Lots of good Aussie wines too but they dont seem to export. Or even sell in local wine "chains". Went to a small place called Samuels Gorge the other week and they were adament about never selling to big chains, only online or from the cellar. Lots of locally wineries have got that strategy, so if you re not local you re missing out. I think any Grand Cru is the shit. You re lucky!
