Prior to his arrival at ER I always thought that Colin was one of those
managers who got the best out of his players - the type of manager who
players would 'walk through a brick wall' for.
Recent comments in interview have questioned my opinion
After Barnsley when asked why Peltier was at left back he said that was
because Pelts is a better left back than Aidy White. Now I do not know
Whites' character and I can see how some players would re-act in the "I'll
show him" way , whilst others would be deflated by it, so it could be good
or bad man management. However when White played v Brum and the interviewer
pointed out to Colin that White had saved the game by clearing one off the
line , instead of giving him credit and saying - 'yeah he proved me wrong'
he just said "well he was given a torrid time on occasion' - that cannot be
good man management

Then later when asked about Ross Mc goal instead of givng Ross any credit
and saying how good it was to see him on the score sheet and how he hoped
Ross would now go on a goal scoring run - he totally ignored it and just
said how great a pass it was from Diouf to set him up ! I expected
therefore when I saw it on TV to see a great piece of play by Diouf and a 6
inch on a plate tap in by Ross. This was not the case, Diouf did OK and
played it back to Ross who then had to control it with his first touch and
hit it in with his second - all the praise should go to Ross in my opinion,
especially when he is having a tough time at the moment.
Again bad man management in respect of Ross. He could still have praised
Diouf either for the pass or his penalty.

He has also in the past had a public dig at youngsters, Byram, Lees and
Poleon. Surely at their age, and given their inexperience he should be
sticking up for them in public and then maybe dressing them down or
whatever in private ?

He did slightly redeem himself by praising Brown who has been generally
poor for us since he came and who is attracting stick from the crowd, and
Varney who is also the butt of the crowds ire even though , for me, he has
not had enough game time to formulate an opinion.

Like I say not the actions of someone who in the past seems to have
inspired total loyalty in his players

Dave

PS Gutted that I am now away for Spurs game - why did the OS in the
fixtures not put" Boro away / 4th round of the Cup" on its list ?
