So, having publicly drawn my personal line in the sand regarding my ongoing support, depending on the club's performance in the January Transfer Window, what am I to make of the situation today?
Honestly, I think I'm pleased, though as ever with Leeds, it's not exactly a clear-cut issue. On the plus side, we have brought in some new players, got rid of some less useful players, presumably reduced or at least kept the status quo of the wage bill and changed things around a bit, which was sorely in need. I don't know enough about the 3 new names we brought in yesterday, but there seems to be at least a chance that they could be useful additions to the team. On the minus side, we haven't apparently spent much (if any) money. Morison came with cash, Habibou is on loan and I've yet to see any mention of paying money for Warnock. That hardly shouts "ambition" from GFH does it? I was really hoping for a few dealings like these plus one 'marquee signing' - an experienced midfield general to give us the stability to build on. Where I'm on the fence - losing Becchio. Only time will tell whether this is a good thing or not. On the face of it, it seems like a good thing. But. limited footballer or not, he was still a prodigious goal scorer and if we end up struggling for goals going forward, this could turn out to be one of the worst departures we've seen. Obviously the hope is that with the new personnel, we can continue to move away from the 'hoof it to the centre forward' tactic, but a lot of the issue there was with the other players - particularly the midfielders, and there's certainly been no upgrade there. We'll see... So. I'm sure you'll all be delighted to know(!) that I'm not deserting the ship just yet. I've re-drawn my line in the sand for the start of next season and I'm praying we can all have something positive to cheer about in the next few months. MOT!
