It's very rare that I respond to these posts, especially when it involves player positions and tactics, but I have to comment on this one.... no disrespect to your judgement Dave, I think this is the second-ever posting from me on tactics so I could never criticise...
Doof Doof Diouf to me is not the player he used to be. And now never will be. From what I have seen of him though, he should be playing in (and I hoped he would be the 21st century replacement for) David Batty's "The Midfield General" position. He doesn't have the speed, yet he has enormous skill and forethought. Give him the cover, and let him control the play from that general's position. It's just a shame we don't have a real manager. Diouf's performance against Spurs was exemplary. 4-3-3 - from Pearce Lees Peltier Warnock Tonge (but don't put Byram in the back four) Middle three should be (left to right) Green Diouf Byram Front three should be (left to right) Varney Morison McCormack (unless I have got their wrong favourite foot first...) And then, maybe change formation around for the different styles of the teams that we play.... Now you can all see why it's only my second posting on players and tactics? What the feck would I know?
