Well I said before the game that this was not one to set the pulses races
and so it proved.
I had heard pre match that we had not scored in the first half of a game
all year (2013) and today was to prove no different.
The first half was as bad an opening 45mins as I can remember - the only
thing of note was a bit of skill by Dawson and a nice lay off by Varney
that led to Green hitting a good shot against the woodwork . That was all
we had to show for 45 mins in which we dominated without creating.
Dawson looked like a boy amongst men but he did have one or two touches
that suggested he might have a bright future , on the other hand , at other
times he was so easily pushed off the ball that unless he can bulk up he
will disappear into the lower levels of football,.
Oh yeah, nearly forgot Kenny made a save.
We looked like what we are, a midtable team going nowhere fast, a
rudderless ship.
Why oh why did Colin make Peltier captain ? At no stage in any game that I
have seen has he looked like a captain.
Green who I want to like and who I think does have something about him,
summed it all up - decent one minute, worse than a pub player the next.
The half time whistle was met with muted cheers and jeers - to be honest,
no-one could really be bothered , not the fans and not the players.
The second half started in a similar manner with nothing really happening
at either end. Then just before the hour mark the crowd actually got to
their feet, firstly to applaud the efforts of the departing Dawson and at
the same time to cheer fans favourite Ross McCormack onto the pitch. Ross
showed straight away why he should have been on from the start as he buzzed
about the place and then a few minutes later he met a cleared corner and
hit it home from the edge of the box - a great finish.
Surely we could go on and win this game as the fans sang "Leeds are staying
up"
Ooops no we couldn't - we basically stopped playing and let Derby, who
until then had been pitiful back into the game. First Pearce was left for
dead and pulled the attacker down - penalty. Even though he missed the pen
(hit the post) they scored from the rebound
We huffed and puffed a bit but Morison put in the sort of pathetic
performance that had me almost wishing that Becchio was still here.
Then in the last couple of minutes the inevitable - a corner that we failed
to defend and we went from 1 up to 2 1 down.

The game ended with a lot of abuse aimed at Warnock and we all drifted home.

I texted my wife to saying "as if watching that shower of shit was not
enough, I now have a 30minute wait for my train"
Pretty much sums it all up

As for Warnock, as I have said, I did not like him pre Leeds but I thought
he could be the man for the job. I thought he would have us organised and
that he would inspire the players "they would run through a brick wall for
him"
I was totally wrong on both accounts - he never seemed to know what
formation and line up suited us best, and he never managed to make us hard
to score against. As for the brick wall running - we have Varney,Norris and
now Morison who look like they cannot be bothered to run anywhere at all
for Neil , let alone through a brick wall.

So bye bye Colin - you will soon be forgotten (unless we do go down - which
I do not think will happen) you came, you went, you did nothing apart from
a couple of good Cup results, the job was too big for you / you were here
at a time when it was tough for a manager (delete according to taste)

So come on lads - do it for Redders

Dave
