You're being mighty kind, Dr. Benjamin. Mighty kind. Oh, I agree that he was working under very difficult conditions. No one can seriously contest that Bates was (is) the ultimate culprit.
But I cannot quite get past that "lost the plot" bit. Look, Warnock was not the first manager who had to coach with one or more hands tied behind his back. Few managers have the luxury of building the team the truly want. And many managers manage to get results from a squad that ought not get them. Warnock did not do that. In fact, while none of us labor under the misapprehension that our current player personnel represents a promotion-worthy sideŠI also believe there are few who would question that by nearly any measure the current side has underperformed. That, sadly, is down to Warnock. That is down to his tactics, his man management and his footballing style or lack thereof. Yes the working conditions were hard. But, unfortunately, Warnock was Value SubtractedŠnot Value Added. Bring on Gus Poyet. Michael A. Gardiner LAW OFFICES OF MICHAEL A.
