It's so obvious the guy has a problem. He just lost control. He is a spoilt
brat on the field. But there is a difference between bad behaviour ala
Terry thuggery and yesterday.
I'd reckon he'd be best off seeing an anger management specialist. I just
cannot see what punishment would help. Its not going to deter others. Only
someone out of control does that. Similarly punishment will not help him.
He had a seven match ban before.
I am far from being an 'understand and coddle' guy but there are some cases
where it is so obvious that the problem is not behavioural but a
personality problem.
His 'negrito ' affair was bad behaviour. But his behavior afterwards was
just bloody narcissistic, he couldn't see he was in the wrong. Now he has
shown that he can completely loose it. He has to be taught how to contain
himself. The ideal solution would be to demand he has say a two year
therapy session in anger management, reviewable every year. If it happens
again in therapy he's banned till the end of therapy. I think that would be
far more effective. I see no shame in admitting that there's something
wrong & treating it.
It'd do more good as a message.... Awareness of anger management.
In a strange way I feel sorry for him. A hell of a good player...but a very
troubled guy.
