Nice to see Diouf getting 75mins under his belt today v Burnley in a behind closed doors game - he was scheduled to play only 45 so the fact he did another 30mins in the second half must bode well for his fitness - he also scored the only goal of the game albeit a penalty
I think if we are going to keep the diamond then Diouf may be the best option at the head of it, and this will allow Ross (if he is not off to Boro or Blackpool) to play alongside Hunt / Smith / Varney / Poleon as the second striker. Bring in the Austin that started last season for us (as opposed to the 'dead on his feet' Austin of the last few games) alongside Murphy in the middle with Green at the bottom and things are looking decent(ish) As for tonight I did expect Ashdown to be in nets as he was last season for these games but since he played v Burnley I now think Paddy will get the nod (his 600th game in total) Like many I look forward to going to these games to see some of the youth / fringe players and was hoping that Mowatt, Lenighan and Dawson would all play some part. Lenighan played this afternoon so I doubt he will be in the squad but there remains a chance for Mowatt and Dawson, both of whom are pushing for places in the 1st team squad proper. Of course Brian may opt to let Brown and / or Norris get a run out to keep them fit or put them in the shop window. (Pugh is injured) There have been very few crowds over 10k - Brum, Preston, Rotherham and Hudds the only ones so far and 3 of them being involved in 'derbies' so our expected crowd of around 13 to 15k whilst poor in some ways - especially at £12 a ticket- will be very healthy for this stage of this competition Dave PS Thanks for those who pointed out that FL72 referred to the 72 League teams - a total nonsensical piece of branding and renaming as far as I am concerned but there you go - thanks _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
