>I am a freelance football writer and a long time friend of John McClelland's ( >Stadium Tour Manager at Elland Road ). I just wonder if you or a fellow Leeds >United diehard might be able to help me with a tiny piece of information which >I am looking for ? Despite my very best efforts, I have been unable to >discover the exact date in October 1973 upon which Johnny Giles was appointed >player - manager of the Republic of Ireland national team. I have searched the >Daily Mirror and Daily Express newspaper archives and contacted the Irish FA >but all to no avail. I have also trawled the internet too but again without >luck. I would be more than happy to acknowledge the help of anyone who might able to help me.
