Will keep it short for 3 reasons, 1. Most of you will have seen on TV 2. I am off on holiday tomorrow -with a very early start 3 . Not much to say - cannot recall a real clear cut chance that we had all game ?
On the way to the game we all pretty much agreed that QPR are a long way above us, and the rest of the Division, and so a point would have been good. I missed the announcements of the teams and so spent the first few minutes trying to work out who they had - then saw Johnson and Austin up front, Barton and Wright Phillips in midfield and Hill and Dunne in defence in front of Green and realised quite how many good players they had, and so decided that a draw would definitaley be a good result and we nearly got it. Having said that it was a poor game with real chances at a premium, and although we worked hard and huffed and puffed they always seemed to have another gear in case it was needed. I was gutted that their goal came from a straightforward free kick into our box - nothing clever, no bit of skill that we could not cope with - just a ball into the box and our Achilles heel kicked in. We tried hard and never gave up, McDermott tried to change things and we did our best, and I suppose that is all you can ask for. QPR will win a lot of games, especially away from home in this manner, sit back and soak it up and then sneak a goal. We never got hammered as we have done a few times in recent times and the players left the field to a decent reception rather than boos so their are some positives. It is not games like today that will dictate our season , it is how we can do against other mid to top level teams and whether we have the skill and the nous to beat them. We were 7 points short of the play offs last season so we do not need much improvement to maybe make it into the top 6 - lets hope we can do it. The vibe around ER continues to improve - keeping Ross is something we have been unable or unwilling to do in the past so that is good. We nearly sneaked a point at the end with Rodys shot but I think it may have been for the best (to stop him shooting all the time) that it dropped onto the bar and not in So now a nice break for the team (and an even better one for me and the missus!) with plenty to do but a lot of positives on and off the field to encourage us all Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
