Stats don't tell you much here. If he gives the ball away in their half trying to pick out a pass to the strikers that's fair enough, but Austin doesn't - he gives it away after he's done the hard job of winning it, under no pressure, with 10 yard passes. There was a spell between 50-60 minutes yesterday I'm sure he gave it away under no pressure at least 5 times. I was screaming at him.
That said, we're so static and narrow he has barely any options most of the time. I got so tired of us passing it across the back 4 and going nowhere. I also spent 10 minutes watching us pass. In that time, only one player managed to pass without taking a touch (McCormack) and most of our players took 2 or 3 touches. It's no wonder we can't break teams down. By the time the player has decided what he's going to do their options have been closed off. The times we did pass first time (first half going down the left springs to mind) we got right through them in midfield, but then lacked any wing pace to put a final ball into the non-existent strike force in the box - but that's another story. -- On 1 Sep 2013, at 14:30, Richard Walker <[email protected]> wrote: > I still dom't think he's good enough especially as our captain. > > > ________________________________ > From: Nicholas Armit <[email protected]> > To: Simon Austin <[email protected]>; "[email protected]" > <[email protected]> > Sent: Sunday, 1 September 2013, 14:19 > Subject: Re: [LU] Iumps > > > So nearly every third pass misplaced but better than in the past games....so > maybe we are both right! > > Nick > > > ________________________________ > From: Simon Austin <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Sent: Saturday, August 31, 2013 10:44 PM > Subject: Re: [LU] Iumps > > > On 31/08/13 16:56, Richard Walker wrote: >>> disagreed with Rich in an earlier game about Austin giving the ball away, >>> but today he would have been totally right.
