Well looks like BMcD has quashed the rumours anyway;

"Recent reports had suggested that McDermott was keen to sign the
29-year-old on a deal until the end of the campaign, but the Leeds boss has
insisted that he already has enough cover in Bentley's position.

"There is no point me bringing in a player for the sake of it. I won't just
bring players in because we can. That might have happened in the past at
other clubs or here, but I'm not going to do that," he told reporters.

"David Bentley has been available for a little while and has been a good
player. But we've got Ross McCormack and El Hadji Diouf, so you're talking
about similar sort of players. Bentley is a good player, but when you've got
Ross and Dioufy, you've got players that are already in that mould. The last
thing that you want to do is stockpile players in a position, it's just not
right."

what an intelligent comment.
