At Barrow's weekend FA Cup game with Atherstone (we won 4-0), there were considerable problems with fighting and flares being let off by the home supporters, there were also cases of Barrow supporters, fearing for their safety, making 999 calls to the Police (it really was that bad), initial reports indicate that upon arrival to the ground, the Police were refused entry (which I though couldn't happen if the emergency services were responding to such a call for assistance), but it appears to been down to a reluctance from the home club to incur further costs (are the Police entitled to levy a charge on the club in these circumstances?).
I find the whole thing quite bizarre, but I haven't lived in the UK for some 20-odd years now, and things might have changed, have they? _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
