One thing that did surprise me was the reception that Woodgate got on Saturday,
or to be more precise the lack of a reception. It would have been impossible to
tell from the crowds reaction that Fraser Richardson was a ex Leeds player and
that, in a way, was to be expected but Woody ?
My lad had Woodgate on the back of one of his LUFC shirts, and Woody was a huge
fans favourite at the time. Then of course there is the question of his part in
our demise - and the differing views of the fans at the time.
Yet there was no great cheers or 'he's Leeds and he knows he is' chants,
equally there was no booing or abuse that often greets ex players.
Thankfully none of the brain dead fans came out from under their rocks with the
'Johnny Woodgate is our friend' songs etc.
So all in all it was a very low key return for one of our heroes (unless things
happened when his name was announced pre game or in the warm up - I time my
arrival to a minute before kick off)
