Buy a match ticket for this Saturday and lend a hand to those in Leeds without
homes

Leeds United fans are being encouraged to help the city’s homeless this weekend
by donating their used match tickets to rough sleepers who will then be able to
exchange for a meal this Christmas period.

Upon receipt of a used ticket for the Barnsley match from a homeless person, St
George’s Crypt will provide a hot meal and the opportunity to talk to a member
of staff.

It’s hoped that as well as providing a free meal for those in need, the
initiative will also increase awareness around the plight of the homeless of
Leeds.

Leeds United managing director David Haigh said: “As a football club we believe
we have a real and continuing responsibility to the wider community. The
problems of homelessness are always with us but they are thrown into even
starker relief Christmas time.

“We urge all our fans to buy a match ticket and then find a homeless person who
will then get a free meal simply by presenting it at St George’s Crypt, an
organisation which deserves support for the fantastic job it does within the
City. We will also be inviting our fans to contribute to a collection for St
George’s Crypt around the stadium on Saturday.”

Cheryl Harrington, Lead Fundraiser at St George’s Crypt said: “Many of our
service users, volunteers and staff are big Leeds United fans, we are delighted
with the continued support we are receiving from the club.”

The match tickets will be valid for redemption against a hot meal for a
homeless person until 31 January 2014. They can be redeemed in the same way as
the Give Me Some Credit Vouchers for a hot meal; Monday to Friday at 12noon at
St George’s Crypt.
