I see the YP is reporting that the take over has hit the buffers and there is some amount of falling out amongst them all. The 'other' consortium and the Italian are both still waiting in the wings. The general mood about the takeover is one of total apathy, bemusement and disbelief - we just want it done and done soon
It does look and feel as if whoever takes over we will be in the same position - owners with no real financial clout. It is impossible to see how we can ever hope to compete at the top level again in my lifetime - scum have just paid £23m for one player - the whole of our squad is not valued at that even using the absolute top possible valuations ! No-one with money seems to want us so we will not be getting the next Abramovitch or Sheik mansoor. So our only hope is that the new financial rules lead to some sort of implosion and back to reality (none of this players costing £100m and getting £250 k a week!) As for the short term without money McDermotts (like Grayson, Warnock etc) before him is operating with one hand behind his back. OK we can question some of his decisions and will continue to do so, but, to me, getting rid of him will just move the problems on to the next man. Last night showed that although fans are at the end of their tether and are willing to show it - evidenced by the re-action after Rochdale and the 'what the f is going on' chants last night- it also showed that the fans are behind McDermott and are willing him to do well- the what the f chants were soon followed and with more joining in and more gusto with 'we all love Leeds' and the atmosphere after our goal was very upbeat and supportive. Last season the fans were sick to the back teeth of everything including Warnock, this time fans are pretty happy with much of what GFH have done fans wise, and like McDermott.
