Instead of the Football League expending resources to investigate every gent with a bit of cash and an ambition to have a football club as a plaything, wouldn't it make more sense to try on some aspects of the German model, ie supporters having majority stakes, etc??
I think the long and short of it is that foreign investors will always view clubs as a means to turn a profit. Except that football clubs run as profitable businesses off the pitch tend to fall short in trophies, while trophy winning sides tend to have ledgerbooks full of red. Quite the dilemma.
