----- Original Message ----- Last time an England (and Swindon, the sheep
sh*gger) supporting mate of
mine was over in Turkey, the first thing he was asked by locals was
whether he was a Leeds fan.

There is a world of difference between being down on the coasts and being in
Istanbul itself.
There are direct Jet2 flights from Leeds to Dalaman so they expect to meet
Leeds fans down there.
The best response is usually- why, who do you support ? You can usually tell
immediately if they are looking for trouble and usually they are not.
In fact if they are fans of any other club they are likely to express sympathy
(and in some cases hatred of Gala).
For Turkish purposes I'm personally a Fenerbache fan. That has been quite
useful as it brings in the Asia v Europe bit, plus Anatolia verses the rest
(to a limited extent) and Attaturk was a Fenerbache fan even though he shunned
Istanbul for political purposes.
