Anyone who managed to miss the game and not listen to it on the radio will have seen the result 2-0 . A decent result and a clean sheet - job done Well sort of. We won, we scored twice and we got a clean sheet so in a way we have to be satisfied but this was as poor a game of football as I have seen. I have had a few beers etc but I am struggling to report on anything that happened, because nothing did. This was the archetypal 'forgettable game; - it was dreadful as entertainment. It shows how bad this Division is , that these teams will stay up. We possibly needed 3 points to ensure safety, and so winning today should have sent us all home happy - indeed there was a half hearted rendition of "Leeds are staying up" at the final whistle - but it was poor fare. Blackpool were atrocious and had nothing to offer and yet we struggled to beat them. Once again McD tinkered with the team and formation - this time we sort of went 3 5 2. Smith and Ross up front, Pearce Lees and Zalilkas the 3 at the back with Warnock and Wootton as wing backs - yes I have typed that correctly - Wootton and Warnock as wingbacks with Murphy, Tonge and Brown in centre midfield. The game started (late) and was low key throughout. We huffed and puffed a bit and managed to keep the ball a bit without doing much with it. Then Ross got the ball and played a great pass in to Murphy who had made a great run into the box (still hope for him). As the ball came to him we all expected him to bang it in with his right foot, but he miscontrolled it and ended up pulling it back as the keeper fell at his feet and then scuffed it with his left into the net. 1 up and when was the last time we could say that ? So one up at half time and we sort of deserved it. The second half was as poor and as non eventful as the first and then a good ball from Tom Lees (not something I often say) was flicked on by Hunt and Murphy finished with style
So a 2 0 win in a poor game - McD wore a tracksuit and spent the second half stood in the corner of the dug out as Gibbs ranted and raved at the players - make of it what you will So an instantly forgettable a rubbish game but we won and the points will keep us up - nothing else to say Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] John 'Grampa' Sykes Rest In Peace old lad 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 MARCHING ON TOGETHER
