well your co must have a very powerful independent directors or shareholders group, what generally happens is someone gets the blame, normally someone low down the food chain or if a board member does get collared they'll leave with a big payoff and consultancy deal so they don't cause any problems. All Corporate business stinks, look after themselves first, shareholders next , staff way way down the line.
