Believe me - it was atrocious.

I'm usually optimistic, but I saw nothing to give us hope last night. Boro
result - a false dawn? I think so.

And listening to the Hock on the way home - is he watching the same game as
me? He said we played better in the second half, he was happy with that
and that we created lots of chances. What? We had no shots on target,
NONE.
He also said that the age of the winger was dead. Really? Someone better
tell Bale and Ronaldo.
Apparently we played 'the diamond' the first half and then changed it to
the "brave" system of man marking in the second. Brighton were all over us
in the first half and we were lucky to go in just one down. Second half
was a minor improvement - we stopped them a bit but as I say, we created
nothing.
I still can't understand why, when we get a free kick in their half, do we
not lump it in the box? We do a short pass sideways, one across the back
to the other flank and then either lose it or do a wayward pass. We also
never seem to put the final ball in the box, why? In his defence, The Hock
did say he couldn't understand why we weren't putting early balls in the
box as that what the players were instructed to do. Believe what you will.
 Either way, shite.

We had no pace, no aggression, and definitely no passion. And we persevere
with 3 of the 4 crap midfielders that were rubbish last year. Its time to
face facts - Austin and Murphy just aren't up to it. I'll give Tonge a
chance as a sub, when we're desperate. And I'm not that convinced about
Bianchi (sp?) I watched him for a bit in the second half and he didn't do
enough movement off the ball. Often Byram wanted to pass and move and
Bianchi was just stood there. When he did get the ball, his final pass
went astray more often than not.

Chasing the game he takes Sharp off. It's hardly his fault (or Smiths)
that they had no service. I don't think the score would have been any
worse if we had played without the midfield players at all! We're just not
good enough to play tippy-tappy football, even in our own third.

3 games in, early days I know but I just hope we get some new, decent
players in or we're doomed.

Hockaday gone by mid-Sept (or even after we lose on Sat and get knocked out
of cup by Bradfud)

After a good day out, and result, on Saturday - back to reality.
