But Matt Smith got 13 goals "at this level" last season, despite being far from
a regular starter. That means that the sales of McCormack and Smith have cost
us the equivalent of 42 goals. It may be that Billy Sharp (five goals total
last season) will find his scoring touch again, or that all these tyro
midfielders will start pinging them in, but I fear that we'll become the
equivalent of Spurs last season, who sold their one world-class player, the one
who could often be counted on to rescue them with a goal out of nowhere, and
bought a team's worth of mediocre players with the money.

Cheers!

Sean

I for one think this has been one of the best transfer windows for us in a
while. 11M for McCormack is beyond belief and I never really felt that Matt
Smith was going to contribute meaningfully at this level. Poleon promised but
never really delivered and now we have a slew of new signings that at leaf fill
me with anticipation if not excitement yet. I LOVED Silvestri's reaction at the
final whistle on Saturday, applauding the fans and pumping them up, he could be
a real legend.Overall, I'm much more optimistic than I was three weeks ago, the
Hoack has gone, we have new players in, if we can now get someone like Steve
Clark or Grayson in to coach we could be a decent team and avoid relegation
this
year.
Best,
Jeremy

artificially low since it includes 4 youth team players released without a
first
team appearance between them

Massimo - get the right coach in now and things could really take off even
though there are bound to be some bumps along the way - we have saved on wages
and changed the whole feel of the playing staff - young hungry players with
something to proof and room to improve rather than old journeymen seeing out
their time and picking up their wages
