Well this will be short (for a change) I went to the game hoping to experience the euphoria and excitement that I missed v Hudds but worried that it may be another Brentford, especially when I recalled Reading hammering us at ER last time and read that they have a great record against us I was amazed to find that Warnock - who is having by far his best period for us- was dropped for Cooper, less surprising was the recall for Sloth but a surprise that it was Austin who made way. It took us till the 84 minute to have shot on target when Sharp made room for himself, turned and fired in a shot that went right to the keeper. Apart from Silverstri tipping a long shot over the bar early on and getting down low to a shot at his near post I don't recall any real shots on target from them either. This had 0 0 or at best 1 0 written over it from the start. Our stats on BBC show 16 shots,only 1 on target, they had 13 off and 4 on. I do remember Mowatt and Austin both hitting one well over the bar, and Bellusci trying to recreate his Bournemouth free kick but putting it into the second tier of the South Stand. For all the lack of real goal mouth action it was not that bad a game - I have seen much worse nil nils. We did try and pass and move and tried to have possession with purpose BUT we gave the ball away far too often. Nothing worked for Doukara and although Antenucci tried hard he got no real service. Cooper looked a bit dodgy at times - looking like what he is , a centre back playing out of position, and they did try and target him, but he stuck to his task and looks like he will be a good asset for us (at centre back) and we did restrict them to long range efforts and looked pretty solid at the back. Silverstri again making Cellinos claims that he will be our best keeper ever seem a possibility, he looks very assured. We did let them get the better of the second half as Cook and Mowatt seemed to tire a bit and Murphy came on to no real effect. Cook does look a real player but he gave the ball away and seemed much too casual much too often. Bianchi, Sloth and Mowatt all had mixed games with some good stuff and some wayward passing. A point at home is not really good enough but we are very much a work in progress and a clean sheet against a supposedly potent Reading attack is good. We have plenty that needs sorting but also plenty to build on and I went home reasonably happy with things. A win on Saturday and last night will be consigned to history. We all know this is an odd Division - look at the results last night - Hudds winning away at Wolves and Fulham hitting four. Any team that can put a few results together can zoom up the league, and after 10 games despite doing so poorly we sacked a manager (coach) we are only 6 points from the top ! (a win last night would of course have cut this to 4 pts)
