I also don't know if this helps anyone but the officious site has the nearest
train station to the ground as Putney. While this is true for mainline stations
a far closer station is Putney Bridge underground (District Line) which is no
more than 10 minutes walk to the ground. The walk encompasses a great cafe
across the road (proper 60s Italian owned cafe with old photos of Juventus on
the wall), the Eight Bells pub which was always decent, and the Church from The
Omen (in Bishop's Park) where the priest gets spiked.

Any suggestions for a pub to meet up on Wednesday afternoon?

There was a Facebook discussion of meeting at the Bricklayers Arms just over
the river in Putney. I guess people are meeting there at 5.30pm according to
some posts.
