I was into football in a big way. In fact, I ran one of the five teams. We have fabulous relationships with our neighbouring team Kfar Kasm. They have Jews playing; we have Arabs - so what. When KK played in Jericho, as an Isreali team with Jews in the team, Jibril, the guy stirring up the shit, agreed. He hadn't noticed that there were Jews there. When we asked to put up a joint team with KK, he went ballistic. It's all hypocrisy of the highest order. One of the most endearing moments I have experienced was meeting the girls of KK when we tried setting up a girls team. The Mum's in their traditional black clothes excitedly enrolling the girls. That is what it is about. What dismays me is the passion that outsiders like Rob engender. The Palestinians don't have hissy fits. We have differences- but we both know 'outside supporters' are a big bloody embarrassment- to both of us. Regardless, lets let it go. As far as I remember Bob is a bird watcher. Oranit & KK are beneath the flight paths of one of the biggest bi-annual bird migration. I mention the birds a lot. One day Bob & I will watch them together-- I hope.
