Must admit there is a better feeling around the place than there has been for a
while. Having said that we all felt the corner had been turned the first season
under GFH - Bates gone, GFH interacting with fans, a £1m player and a full
house in the first home game. How quickly that went to pot.
We do seem to have a firmer base this time though - a decent manager and back
up team, an MD (Pearson) who appears to know what he is doing, a £3m and a
£1.5m player, added to a bunch of experienced youngsters who have done well
before and who look like they should have good careers (hopefully with us)
So things are nicely set up and we have plenty of scope for improvement - a bit
of success and good football and we could (and should) be getting 30k+ every
game, not just the first one.
My 'prediction' is for a decent season where we stay in and around the top six
, I think auto promotion is beyond us but no reason why we cannot, with a bit
of luck, and maybe more investment in Jan window get into the play offs. Of
course a bad start and a Cellino ban or break down and all this could go wrong
quickly and drastically and we could by December find ourselves at very much
the wrong end of the Division, a new manager and players eager to leave in
January.
But until 3pm tomorrow (or whatever time the game ends) lets at least have some
optimism and happy thoughts.
