OK everyone, thanks for adding to the thought process.

The odd thing is that I'm already with Virgin for internet and phone, having
had a cable installed over 20 ys ago for phone, and ditched the BT Line and TV
Aerial. Only got the 50Mb internet, as that seems to be enough for us, but
much faster than anyone else can offer.

Oddly, until recently, the cheapest way for me to get all the TV channels was
with a Sky subscription on top of Virgin.
BT Sport coming along changed all that, as it is included in Virgin's Top TV
package, but would cost £22 extra on Sky.

For the last couple of years I've been balancing the 2. Phoning up both of them
now and again to add/remove channels and take advantage of any discounts/offers
either one would give me for doing so. All the while happy that Carey gets her
Sky Atlantic HD, and just uses the Sky user interface, which we all prefer to
Virgin. I get the Sky Sports on Sky and BT Sport through Virgin.

However, it's kind of crept up on me that I'm paying £55 a month to Virgin and
£75 to Sky.

With Sky Atlantic being available on Streaming thorough Now TV (We have the App
on our new telly :-)
, it means that switching to Virgin is a viable alternative. I've been offered
Sky Sports + Movies for £27 for 9 months.

Even paying a tenner for Now TV, it would reduce my bill to £92 in total, which
is a bit more acceptable.

Switching entirely to Sky is not an option as it would mean reinstalling BT
Line. Even Sky Fibre is only 38MB, and getting the whole lot including
line-rental would cost as much as the Hybrid I've got at the moment.

The other thing with Virgin is that they are much more flexible, allowing you
to upgrade/downgrade almost at will.
Both want 30 days to cancel though.

So if you have read this far and thanks to a bit of advice.
It is going to be:

1. Phone Sky, say I want to cancel and see if they offer to reduce me to £50
per month.
2. 2 weeks before Sky cancellation, take out Now TV free 14 day trial
3. A few days before the 30 days is up, phone Sky and ask them what their final
offer might be.
4. If I stay with Sky, cancel Now TV subscription.
5. If Sky Offer still not good enough add Sky Sports and Movies to Virgin
package.
6. Monitor other streaming services (Neflix, Amazon) as an alternative to Sky
Movies.

I can't fault Virgin Kev, after we left Sky for them about 16 months ago. We
switched for the superfast broadband (two teenage boys are data hungry!) but
there've been lots of other benefits. Tivo records three shows not two, has a
two week planner, has a Netflix app if you've not got a smart telly or can't be
arsed connecting your computer, the router has been more reliable than Sky's, I
get a great deal on mobile phones, and as I say the broadband is significantly
quicker (6 with sky, 150 with Virgin!)- it's also cheaper than Sky, doesn't get
interrupted by the weather, and you only 'rent' the kit so if it breaks down
they repair or replace it, unlike Sky. BUT the one channel you don't get is
Atlantic. Had to watch the last series of Mad Men on a dodgy stream (and I
really don't like illegal streaming) cause we'd lost Atlantic.

Sorry, I've just realised I've not been very helpful there, having not answered
your Now TV question, nor solved your Atlantic channel problem :-/
