I've just come back from my friends apartment in Spain and while we were
there we used an android app called "Mobdro" on a tablet and as the tablet
was MHL compliant, we connected the tablet to the TV via a HDMI/USB cable.

(Mobdro has loads of TV channels including a lot of sport)

Of course this is streaming and so needs a decent WiFi connection.  Also,
not all Tablets/Mobile Devices can connect via a cable to TVs.

If your mobile device doesn't connect via a cable, we have used a
Chromecast (plugged into HDMI on TV) to 'cast' the devices screen to the
TV.

To find out if your mobile device will connect via cable to your TV (MHL
Compliant) - look for it at this location:
