Thanks everyone for your recommendations on books for me to read, I'll report back (in about 5 years when I've read em all)
on another matter, I've been meaning to go around all my customer PCs (50-60) and where necessary (non Domain PCs) inhibit the increasingly annoying Windows 10 upgrade messages. They are getting increasingly difficult to ignore and get rid of and I've had a couple of people upgrade without meaning to, just as I'm about to go on holiday - damn I hate Microsoft!. 10 is a perfectly good product on modern PCs with no special software or weird settings, but in many cases isn't appropriate for older PCs, especially where people have shelled out recently to move from Windows XP to Windows 7. Previously I've had some registry entries to import that stops the messages and the pre-emptive download and important update message etc. etc. However the excellent Mr Steve Gibson has written a nice little program that does it in a thrice, so for anyone suffering who doesn't want to upgrade here is a link; https://www.grc.com/never10.htm as far as I can tell it's legit and does nothing other than that listed on the tin, but comes with no warranty from me! ttfn Richard _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
