I noticed we're up to 11th, follow our recent successes. So I thought that must be a worth a bit of prize money, finishing 11th rather than 15th.
So I tried to find out how much each team gets in prize money per place in the league. I can't find a list anywhere, and indeed I found one thread in a forum from 2013 that said only the first and second placed teams in the Championship get any prize money at all. Why do the first and second place team need prize money at all, when they're going to get millions and millions in the PL, in appearance money, parachute payments if/when they get relegated for instance? And wouldn't a tiered prize money structure give some meaning to those end of season games where neither relegation nor play-offs is on the cards if prize money is at stake? If each place in the league was worth say GBP250,000 then keeping on trying right to the end of the season, and therefore in the process entertaining your fans (paying customers that is, and isn't that what it's all about ), would surely happen?
