OK you lot, sorry if this is bad form but the info just isn't out there.

I'm in the market for a new (2nd hand) car.

One of the criteria that is very difficult to find info on is whether my golf
cubs (Mid-sized bag, 45in Driver) will go in the boot.
The overall capacity of the boot is not the question, it is the dimensions.

I don't want to have to remove the parcel shelf or put the back seat down as
I'd like them to be out of site on occasions when they are left in there.

The ideal thing would be to be able to fit them across the boot to leave room
for trolley.
Diagonal would be OK, but I'd really like not to have to remove the driver (not
the bloke driving the car), as I have to in my little Citroen C4.

I'm not so keen on Cross-Overs or Estates, as I don't need anything that big,
other than for golf-clubs, and wifey has a big car anyway.
The extra functionality of a hatchback over a saloon would also be useful.

Cars I'm considering are:
Volvo V40 Cross Country
BMW 3 Series Saloon, although the fact that seats don't even fold down make it
less useful for anything else.
Audi A3 Sportback, although I suspect they won't go in there.

Any opinions?

KOT.
