Very well said. Oft-times yours are the best and most balanced comments I see
on this list. No offense to you other ladies.

Subject: [LU] Season so far

I do cushion everything I say against the fact that this season has
been an armchair season so far for me (Villa next weekend will be my
first live match of the season) but I am surprised generally at some of
  the list negativity.

Even some of the more positive posts have been of the "we're playing a
bit rubbish but we're getting results" attitude.

I think what Monk has done so far, after a wobbly start, has been
  phenomenal.

First of all, half the job (if not more) of being a good football team
is a solid and constructive defence. Our current defence is by far our
best defence since our prem league days. Cracking centre halves and 2
capable and attacking full backs. Added to that our cover centre half
would walk into most teams in this division. And our first reserve full
back (Berardi) would again walk into most teams in this division.

Our attacking play has been more patchy, but Monk is clearly trying to
get us to play constructive on the following deck football, he
comparatively quickly has worked out what formation works with
available resources (basically ending up with the same formation that
our only other good non-prem team, under Grayson, played). It is a work
in progress but when it has worked it has been great (see Norwich).
And for all the abuse Wood seems to get he is our most valuable player
  - I bet we could get 8m+ for him - and he is scoring most games. He is
no Chapman, but the fan reaction to him is reminiscent of (in the
under-appreciation of what he brings to the table) Chappy.

And we're 5th. Despite playing most of season without our star signing
midfielder (Bridcutt), being without our most creative player at times
(Hernandez) and without our star defender yesterday (Pontus). Imagine
the 90 promotion team without Fairclough, Batty and Strachan. How
cohesive would they have been or would Wilko have pragmatically dug a
  result out in their absence?

There looks to be a great team spirit, the football is improving, the
form is great and we've got players to come back. I haven't felt this
positive in years. Even with a deranged nutter as an owner.

  MOT!
