It was Ian Rush. The record went in a cup game when commentators could barely
go a match without mentioning it. From what I remember Liverpool were behind
and they brought Rush on as a sub to which the commentators announced "we all
know what that means" from which point Liverpool looked ever more desperate
until the whistle blew and the record was gone. Everybody seemed more concerned
about the record than the result.
