Well when they deservedly equalising I thought we would be lucky to hang on to
a point, so to say I am gobsmacked is no exaggerationWas pleased to see Monk
say that for 60mins we were pretty poor, I hate it when managers seem to have
watched a different game - all the times that Colin claimed we deserved at
least a point when everyone could see we got hammered really used to annoy me.
I texted my mates when I saw the team and said we would keep it tight for the
first 60 and then send on two from Sacko, Roofe, Barrow or Pedraza to really go
at them with pace, so I was almost right.I think Berardi had his worst game for
us since he came back into the team, although their left wing back was a good
player, Hernandez was a liability apart from his pass for the third and should
have been subbed. Pontus was also off his game, Dallas is poor and O'Kane after
the first few minutes looked lost. Having said that they all played with a
passion and commitment that counts for a lot at this level. Even at 3 1 up in
injury time Pontus and Bridcutt really threw themselves at the ball so our
refusal to give up did , once again stand us in good stead. There is a real
belief in this team and that is worth a lot. Add that to Woods goals and things
can always go right.I thought Philips had his most effective game for us and
made a real difference and his pass, movement and linking for the second goal
was top class, he really put it on a plate for Wood. At the back Bartley was ,
yet again, a real tower of strength and, for me, he is our real captain out
there. Green, with a couple of good saves again showed how he got England caps.
THen the icing on the cake, the finish by Pedraza, that should really help him
settle and hopefully he will go on to much bigger and better things with us
So a great result built on the back of some awful play, some clinical finsihes
(1st and 3rd goal - not sure how anyone can say Wood did not mean the first
one) and some really committed defending and two great substitutions by Monk
(or Beattie?) Not sure how deserved it was in some respects but a comfortable
victory in others,.I still worry that our season relies so heavily on Wood
continuing to score - 18 points for us so far accoring to Sky, and 42% of our
goals - but I will continue to enjoy the ride. I do believe that a win , maybe
even a point, at Fulham will pretty much ensure a play off place.
Talking of play offs, 3 or 4 times the sky people said 'no-one at Leeds was
even thinking of play offs in September " - I felt like phoning them and saying
, "OK, how come Cellino promised a 25% refund (or even 50% if we sold enough)
to ST buyers  if we did not make them then ??"
