It definitely feels like there was more to this than meets the eye.
Wonder if Monk disliked the new management structure that is being put in
place - director of football, head of player recruitment etc - and wanted
to retain more of those powers himself.
Feels like both sides had misgivings / doubts about each other. In which
case, sadly, better to make the break now, rather than hobbling on for a
while.
